Working at heights of approximately 8 meters, safety was going to be a high priority on this job. With our
IPAF qualified decorators a scissor lift was used to complete the ceiling painting, roof beam painting and the higher levels of the wall painting.
First up was to prepare the surfaces of the walls, ceilings and beams for painting. To prevent the existing wood stain from bleeding through the final top coat, the walls were primed with
Zinsser BIN primer.
After priming the walls ceiling and the sizeable roof support beams, it became evident that the final finish was going to look bad unless further preparation work was completed. The walls are constructed from large wooden panels made up of individual bonded planks of pine. The main panels had expansion joints between them but the planks had gaps and cracks which needed to be filled and sanded to give the quality of finish desired.
Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell was used for painting the walls, ceilings and beams. The main paint colour used was “Dulux – Pebble Shore” but several accent walls / feature walls were completed in “Dulux – Dried Sage” . Diamond Eggshell is a tough, hard wearing and wipeable finish which is important for these high traffic areas.
Dulux Trade Satinwood (solvent based) in an anthracite dark grey was used to provide a hardwearing and long lasting finish to the door frames and skirtings.
